Enough for a lifetime.

SAYGI1 — Sertab Erener

2024 · Concert

The second SAYGI1 night honoured Sertab Erener, the voice that won Eurovision for Türkiye in 2003. Twenty-one artists sang her songs, each in their own style. Working again as BİŞEYLER, OKYU’s founding team led creative direction and production design, and let the design follow the emotion rather than the architecture: a more intimate stage than the series opener, and a show flow that gave every performance room to be personal. Each artist brought back a song that had lived in their own story for years. Sertab listened from the room as an arena returned her life’s work to her, then closed the night herself.

Twenty-one voices for one voice.

For one night, thirty years of songs changed hands.

The full story

Saygı is Turkish for respect. SAYGI1 — Babala TV and Sinerji Medya’s honours format, staged live and filmed for YouTube — pays it while the artist is alive to receive it. The first night belonged to Ceza. The second belonged to the voice that won Eurovision for Türkiye.

For one night, thirty years of songs changed hands. The lineup crossed every register of Turkish pop and beyond: Kenan Doğulu, Levent Yüksel, Nil Karaibrahimgil, Hande Yener, Mirkelam, Fatma Turgut, Gökhan Türkmen, Ceylan Ertem, Melek Mosso, Kalben, Karsu, Aleyna Tilki, Can Ozan, Emir Can İğrek, Sena Şener, Şanışer, Nova Norda, Selin Geçit, Soner Sarıkabadayı, TNK and Adamlar — each in their own style, on the songs of the woman who took “Everyway That I Can” to first place at Eurovision 2003.

This night carried a different weight than the first. Sertab Erener holds a place in Turkish music history that belongs to her alone — and it showed in the room: every artist on that bill had a place in their own story where her voice already lived. You could hear it in the performances: each of them was giving something back. Sertab listened from the room as each of them gave it back, and closed the night herself.

Working again as BİŞEYLER, OKYU’s founding team returned as the series’ creative direction and production design studio. This time the design followed the emotion rather than the architecture: a more intimate stage than the series opener, and a show flow built to give each performance the room to be personal — the format’s continuity carried by visual direction and pacing, not by scale. The first SAYGI1 had been designed to show the strength of a genre; this night was designed to carry a feeling to the room.

The main YouTube broadcast has passed nine million views. Between Ceza and Mor ve Ötesi, the Sertab Erener night proved the format could cross genres without losing its shape.
