Microsoft — Qatar
2022 · Opening ceremony
In 2022 Microsoft opened its first hyperscale cloud region in Qatar, Azure’s 55th worldwide, at a ceremony under ministerial patronage. It was a corporate milestone and a national first, and the night needed one moment large enough to hold both. Working as BİŞEYLER in Istanbul, OKYU’s founding team led the creative: the event identity, the stage, the opening film and the inauguration film at its centre. That film carried the weight. Built for a wide stage screen, it moved as one continuous image instead of a sequence of slides. In Doha, a room watched a country’s digital future arrive as a single movement.

A corporate milestone and a national first.

One image, moving through itself.
Microsoft opened its first hyperscale cloud datacenter region in Qatar with a ceremony under ministerial patronage — a corporate milestone, a national first, and one night to show a country its digital future. OKYU’s founding team built that night’s identity, its stage, and the film at its centre.
Microsoft’s Qatar cloud region launched as Azure’s 55th worldwide, making Microsoft the first hyperscale cloud provider to deliver enterprise-grade services in the country. The launch ran under Microsoft’s campaign line Invent the Future from Qatar to the World — less a slogan than a description of what the night was meant to do.
Working as BİŞEYLER, the team led the creative: the event identity, the stage, the opening film, and the inauguration film at the centre of the night.
The inauguration film carried the weight. The launch was at once a corporate milestone and a national first, and it needed one cinematic moment that could hold both at the same scale. Designed for wide-screen stage projection, the film unfolded as a single continuous movement rather than a deck of slides — the story of a country’s digital future told as one image moving through itself.
An IDC study cited at the launch projected that Microsoft, its ecosystem and its cloud customers could together generate around $18 billion in new revenue and add more than 35,000 jobs to Qatar’s economy within four years.
Planning something at this scale? Let’s talk.
